Boulder County Farmer's Market Help educate BCFM customers about composting and recycling! Individuals and groups are welcome and encouraged to participate in efforts at the market by volunteering as Zero Waste Educators. Teach shoppers about compostable plastics and manage composting stations! There’s no need to be an expert – every volunteer is provided with training and information to make his/her shift a fun way to spread the word about waste reduction! The Zero Waste Volunteer shift is from 10am to 1:15pm every Saturday and from 4pm-8pm every Wednesday. Children First of the Rockies Longmont-based nonprofit helps families in conflict or crisis to improve their quality of life and ensure the safety and well-being of the children involved. The organization is in need of volunteers, including those interested in serving on the board of directors and those with experience in fundraising and finances. Colorado Horse Rescue Nonprofit CHR provides emergency relief, shelter, care and adoption services for abused, neglected, abandoned and unwanted horses. FOCUS Offender Reentry Monitoring Program FOCUS trains volunteer mentors to assist adult offenders with reintegrating into society. 720-304-644; www.focusreentry.org. Greenwood Wildlife Sanctuary Greenwood rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned wildlife for release into appropriate habitats, and it treats nearly 3,000 mammals, birds and waterfowl every year. Medicine Horse Program MHP, at 8778 Arapahoe Road, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for adolescents, families and adults through equine-assisted therapy sessions that focus on healing. Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA) Volunteer-counselor training consists of 40 hours of intensive education before working on the 24-hour crisis hotline or accompanying survivors to the hospital, police interviews and court appearances. Voices for Children CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Voices for Children CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) supports, trains and matches volunteers to work one-on-one with children who have been victims of abuse and neglect in Boulder County. Volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in the court system. They are looking for caring individuals to help meet the increased need for CASAs in our community.
