Boulder County’s First Female Eagle Scouts

23 Apr 2021

Not Just a Boys' Club

Two years ago, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) opened their ranks to girls. Now, young women all over the country are reaching the rank of Eagle Scout after earning a minimum of 21 badges and completing their service projects (among other requirements).

Congratulations to these scouts for becoming the first female Eagle Scouts in Boulder County on Feb. 8, 2021!

Jaedyn Nam Hee Brown of Troop 64 in Longmont

Julianne Johnston of Troop 67 in Longmont

Tegan Bartholomew Brown of Troop 171 in Boulder

The Longs Peak BSA Council will be honoring them at the Annual Recognition Event this September.

Staying motivated is usually what most people say is the hardest part about anything. As for me, my motivation never seems to decline. I always find a new way to tackle a problem and that excitement is what keeps me going.”

Something that has driven me since my freshman year of high school is: If you want to make change you don’t need to wait. I saw earning my Eagle rank as another way that I could continue to implement this idea into my life and hopefully inspire other younger scouts to reach for the stars and to accomplish whatever their Scouting journey may be.”

— Julianne Johnston
