Hop on the new Hop

New look and new schedule
Not to be outdone by fall foliage, Boulder’s HOP bus has also shed its old colors in favor of a brilliant orange redesign. It was the first bus service created for Boulder’s Community Transit Network, when the HOP debuted in 1994. Nearly 25 years old, it has been redesigned only once before, and this year’s new look features iconic Boulder landmarks, along with local flora and fauna. A stakeholder design committee considered input from community members and decided on the new graphics, which include pine trees, distant mountains, the tulips on Pearl Street Mall and sculptures by local artists, along with the original hopping rabbit and frog.Weekdays (Monday-Friday) 7 a.m.-7 p.m.: 10-minute frequency 7 p.m.-10 p.m.: 15-minute frequency Weekends (Saturday & Sunday) 7 a.m.-7 p.m.: 15-minute frequency 7 p.m.-10 p.m.: 30-minute frequencyThe redesign coincides with changes in the HOP schedule that took effect in August. While service used to fluctuate with CU Boulder’s academic calendar, the HOP now has a consistent year-round timetable listed above. The HOP service will also welcome new electric buses to its fleet, with one expected near the end of 2018 and three more the following year. —Sara Bruskin
