The Museum of Boulder Comes of Age

01 Jun 2018

Boulder's little museum has grown up

If you remember the Boulder History Museum at its original University Hill location, you’re probably familiar with the exhibits it used to display: quilts, signage about the county’s agricultural and mining roots, information on the University of Colorado. Well, that was then and this is now. Our little museum has grown up, changed its name and broadened its appeal. It’s now the Museum of Boulder, housed in a spiffy and spacious building at 2205 Broadway that opened May 19. With sophisticated exhibits, interactive displays, children’s programs, family activities and a maker space, the museum has finally come of age. As evidence, you’ll find exhibits on Da Vinci Machines, which features more than 75 of Da Vinci’s amazing reconstructed inventions; the Sportsology exhibit, which tests physical prowess through interactive displays; the Google Garage, a maker space for messing about; and Discover NASA, a hands-on and multimedia exhibit that immerses you in the astronaut experience. These four exhibits run through Sept. 30, so hurry over for imagination inspiration. Visit museumofboulder.org for hours and information. —Carol Brock
