Greatest Literary Show on Earth

Get Lit!

A conversation is about to happen, and everyone is invited to join it. It’s about society, justice, the arts, equality, freedom, economies, planetary health, oppression and other topics. Such a wide-ranging talk doesn’t happen every day. In fact, it happens in Boulder just once a year at what’s been called “the greatest literary show on Earth.”

The Jaipur Literature Festival, or JLF@Boulder, brings together contemporary authors, Pulitzer Prize winners, poets, musicians, journalists, mythologists and scholars from all over the world for provocative conversations, intercultural dialogues and the exchange of ideas. This year’s festival even brings Her Majesty the Royal Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck from the Kingdom of Bhutan, who is the author of Treasures of the Thunder Dragon: A Portrait of Bhutan. The free festival is open to all, and particularly aims to attract young minds because “they are our future,” says Sanjoy Roy, managing director of Teamwork Arts, which produces JLF@Boulder, along with literary, performing and visual arts festivals in India, London and elsewhere. Visit www.jaipurliteraturefestival.org to see a list of speakers, including Boulder poet Anne Waldman, and free writing workshops for youths and adults. The Sept. 23-25 festival is at Boulder Public Library, so head down and join the conversation!
