Finding Foster Folks
Of the nearly 4 million dogs that end up in shelters each year, more than 1.3 million are euthanized, often because there’s simply no room for them. That’s where you can help. Summit Dog Rescue is in desperate need of foster homes for rescue dogs. “There are so many dogs, especially from Texas, that are euthanized every day because of overcrowded shelters,” says SDR volunteer Molly Steele of Boulder. “The situation there is really shocking. We’re trying to get these dogs to Colorado to save their lives, but we can’t bring them here without foster homes ready to take them in.”
SDR pays for the dog’s transportation to Colorado, its food, tags, harness and leash, and any medical bills through vet hospitals in Boulder and Lafayette. All you need to give the dog is a loving home while the rescue pooch waits for a “fur-ever” family. Contact SDR through its website (www.summitdogrescue.org) if your home and heart have the space for a dog in need.
